Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown With the Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their first World Series since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three win in the series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that situation except for Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he added.
The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
