The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The single features a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the project have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the area was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
