Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
